Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia

- Definition AIHA : caused by premature destruction of red blood cells antibody induced hemolysis.

- Happen : Idiopathic , in any age , the rate of female more than male .

- Laboratory test : Coombs test . 
  • Blood film . 
  • CBC ( Complete Blood Count ) . 
  • Chemistry .

- AIHA divided tow Group : 
  • Warm : IgG attacks red blood cells patients are usually over age 50 treated with corticosteroids . 
  • Cold : IgM and complement coat red blood cells and trigger hemolysis patients usually over age 50 sometimes resolves with cold avoidance rarely progresses to renal failure .

- Sign symptoms : 
  • Some time Patient with AIHA have no symptoms . 
  • fatigue . 
  • weakness . 
  • paleness . 

- Treatment :
  • Corticosteroid . 
  • If happen by drug treated by Immune Globulin . 
  • When no response to Corticosteroid surgical intervention ( Splenectomy ) . 
  • When no response after Splenectomy giving Cyclosporine .
